Hon'ble Shri Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi born on 03^rd July, 1960. He graduated in Law from Lucknow University in the year 1986 and enrolled as an Advocate on 1^th February, 1987. He mainly practised in Constitutional Courts in Allahabad High Court at |Lucknow |Bench. He had also appeared as an Advocate in several cases in different High Courts and Supreme Court of India. He was appointed the Assistant Solicitor General of India for the Allahabad High Court in the year 2007. After practising for more than 20 years, he was elevated as High Court Judge on 13^th April, 2009 and took oath as permanent Judge on 24^th December, 2010. Hon'ble Justice Awasthi was also nominated as the Senior Judge of Allahabad High Court at Lucknow on 05.01.2021 and thereafter was elevated as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court on 11^th October, 2021. He retired as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court on 02^nd July, 2022. He was appointed Chairman of 22nd Law Commission of India on 09^th November, 2022 and continued till 26^th March, 2024. He has been appointed as Hon'ble Judicial Member, Lokpal on 27^th March, 2024.
